As a seventh-round pick, the left tackle entered the summer without the kind of expectations that come with an early selection. Instead, he's quietly turned himself into one of the more intriguing stories on the roster.
Williams has established himself as the Cardinals' second-string left tackle, which is no small development for a player taken so late in the draft. There could be a chance waiting for him.

The biggest reason Williams' progress is worth watching is where the Cardinals have their biggest concern along the offensive line. Right tackle has been the weakest link, creating a potential opening if Williams continues to develop and shows he can handle the position.

There's still a long way to go, and Williams isn't being handed anything. But his rise up the depth chart has already made him a player worth keeping an eye on as training camp continues.
The fact that a seventh-round pick has managed to entrench himself as the second option at left tackle suggests he's making the most of his opportunity. Now, the next step is continuing that development and showing enough to potentially force his way into the conversation at right tackle. That would be quite a jump for a seventh-rounder.
The Cardinals don't need Williams to solve the position immediately. But if he keeps progressing, the possibility of him pushing for the right tackle role at some point this season becomes much more fascinating.
