TikTok earns 3.4M views for live boxing debut

In what was perhaps an under-the-radar sports media story this past weekend, TikTok made its first major foray into live sports streaming as the exclusive broadcaster for Puerto Rican boxer Amanda Serrano’s WBA and WBO featherweight title defense against Argentine challenger Lucrecia Manzur.
Serrano retained her title by decision, earning her 50th career victory. But the bigger story from a sports media perspective is how many people watched on TikTok LIVE, the livestreaming arm of the popular social media app. According to a report by BBC Sport , the fight amassed 3.4 million views, making it the first world title fight ever streamed live on TikTok.
