NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks left Murphy off of his ranking of the top five defensive tackles in the league this year, but tabbed him as being one who is next up to enter the upper crust of players at the position.
”Playing in the shadows of Leonard Williams and a talented collection of second- and third-level playmakers (Devon Witherspoon and Nick Emmanwori, to name a couple) has prevented Murphy from becoming a household name, but league executives and scouts are buzzing about the Seahawks ' young defensive tackle emerging as an unstoppable force on the interior,” Brooks said.
Tennessee Titans DT Jeffery Simmons (No. 1), Seahawks DT Williams (No. 2), Philadelphia Eagles star Jalen Carter (No. 3), Kansas City Chiefs star Chris Jones (No. 4) and Carolina Panthers DT Derrick Brown (No. 5) made the cut over Murphy.
However, despite just narrowly being left off of the ranking this year, Murphy has the special talent and athleticism at the position to put together an All-Pro-worthy season in 2026.
