However, a close second is seeing a player "hold in" while attending camp but not taking part in practice due to ongoing contract talks. While it hasn't been confirmed that Detroit Lions star running back Jahmyr Gibbs is taking the "hold in" route, it does appear that could be the case after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported both he and Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson sat out practice on Wednesday.
Shortly after the news of Gibbs' absence at Lions practice surfaced, ESPN reporter Eric Woodyard asked head coach Dan Campbell if there was any update on the running back's contract extension.
"This will kind of continue. It'll come as it comes," Campbell said. "I think that's the best way to say it. This is both sides working through something and we'll take it as it comes, but that's where it is."
Obviously, it's a less-than-ideal update for the Lions, but time will tell whether Gibbs indeed decides to hold in at training camp until a new deal is agreed to.
