Bo Nix was back in action for the Denver Broncos , as Sean Payton played his starting quarterback briefly in the team's Friday night preseason game against the Green Bay Packers.
Nix looked sharp and comfortable back on the field, completing 6 of 9 passes for 76 yards. Early, he connected with receiver RJ Harvey, who took off down the sidelines for a 21-yard touchdown pass.
That tied things for the Broncos, 7-7, but the Packers then outscored Denver 26-3 through the final three quarters to get a 33-13 win. After the loss, Nix was asked how he felt getting back on the field.
"It was very smooth, very easy to get back out there and go," Nix told reporters postgame. "Just going out there and doing my job and treating it like a practice rep. The most difficult part was not preparing a whole lot for a preseason game because of the time constraints."
"Felt like exactly where I left off," Nix admitted , months after his devastating fractured ankle injury in the NFL Playoffs.

Asked about whether he might play in the team's next preseason game, Nix was ready for whatever comes his way.
"I think as a competitor, that's an easy answer. Like to play as much as I can, but I don't have control of that," he said.
Judging by Nix's opening drive and the brilliant touchdown pass, he's back on track for another solid season for the Denver Broncos.
During that same drive, Nix also hit teammate Jaylen Waddle on a deep 35-yard pass, the sort of thing fans love seeing at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver.
Before suffering that fractured ankle in an overtime win against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional Round, Nix had his team seemingly destined for a Super Bowl appearance.
That could be the case again this season, although the path there won't be easy. Denver opens their regular season at Kansas City in "Monday Night Football" on Sept. 14 against the Chiefs, with Patrick Mahomes' potential return to form looming.
Still, Nix's return to form in preseason is a positive sign for the Broncos' goal of getting back on track for a run towards the Super Bowl. As of this writing, they are not among the top contenders, with +2000 odds at DraftKings Sportsbook, suggesting they'll need to prove themselves in a competitive AFC.
