The development comes just days after reports surfaced that Vea had requested a trade following unsuccessful contract extension negotiations with Tampa Bay. While the veteran defensive tackle has reported to the AdventHealth Training Center, his absence from practice highlights that the two sides have yet to resolve the situation.
Vea has been one of the Buccaneers' defensive cornerstones since being selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He also earned a 72.8 overall defensive grade and a 77.0 pass-rush grade from Pro Football Focus in 2025.
