See the full story · 3 sourcesOn Monday, the NFL was rocked by the bombshell report that Tampa Bay Buccaneers star defender Vita Vea has requested a trade . The request comes after contract extension negotiations between Vea and the Buccaneers reportedly broke down.
Vea is one of the premier defensive tackles in the NFL. He can line up anywhere along the interior defensive line and impacts the game in multiple ways. There’s very little he can’t do, making him a major asset for any team.
There will be a strong market for Vea. After Dexter Lawrence II reportedly fetched a first-round pick earlier this offseason, similar compensation could be required to land Vea. Here are a few teams that could be willing to pull the trigger on a trade.

Chicago Bears

Vea’s presence could elevate Chicago into the tier just below the Los Angeles Rams. The Bears already have an offense capable of putting up points. They simply need their defense to avoid turning every game into a shootout.

New York Giants

It would almost be a wash if they essentially used the 2027 first-round pick they received to acquire Vea in 2026.
The Giants would secure an immediate replacement while benefiting from the earlier trade. Could that move even push New York into contender status?
There’s still plenty the Giants need to prove before that conversation begins, but don’t count them out as a potential landing spot.

Las Vegas Raiders

They would also love to strengthen their defense as quarterback Fernando Mendoza develops.
With a new head coach and a fresh start, the Raiders are building toward the future. Vea could become the defensive cornerstone that accelerates their rebuild.

BONUS: Los Angeles Rams

Especially considering they’re all-in. What if Aaron Donald doesn’t return? Or what if he does, giving the Rams a defensive front featuring Donald, Vea, Myles Garrett, and Byron Young?
Never rule anything out with the Rams. They consistently throw curveballs and have never been afraid to trade future draft picks if it means maximizing their Super Bowl window.
