The Warriors are prepared to give Curry what he wants, and he hasn’t made any indications that he wants to leave. However, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst encourages the superstar to stall signing an extension this summer.
Signing Curry to a contract extension this summer could solidify the star player’s legacy with Golden State. Both sides are interested in continuing their partnership, and Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. expressed interest in keeping the four-time champion .
Ahead of his upcoming contract eligibility, Windhorst said it would be the best option for the team if Curry holds out on signing a new deal.

“By next week you’ll start to see Steph Curry’s name come up because starting on the 29th of August he’s extension eligible for his contract,” Windhorst said.”I have argued that it should be considered that Curry not sign his contract extension right now.
“But if he doesn’t sign his contract extension right now, the Warriors could have over $100 million in salary cap space next summer. Because he, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green are all in the last year of their contracts.”

According to Windhorst, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to wait for the contract offer, which will eventually come next summer. In this way, the Warriors could use the available cap space to help Stephen Curry in free agency.

Lacob said he’s close with Curry and that he’s happy with the Warriors organization. The owner also said the franchise does not want the four-time champion to leave and doubled down on the hoax trade reports.
