It’s been well documented that the Titans went on a spending spree during the offseason and significantly raised the organizational floor. Couple that with a second solid draft by general manager Mike Borgonzi, and the Titans appear poised to take a big step forward in 2026 under new head coach Robert Saleh.
Mixed in with all of those new faces are three that Matt Bowen of ESPN believes will make more of an impact for the Titans, and fall within his Top 50 impact additions of 2026.
No. 15: Alontae Taylor, CB (signed by Tennessee Titans )
An urgent mover who can play inside or outside, Taylor was one of the top defensive backs I studied in free agency -- he ranked No. 9 on my top 100 free agents list. In Tennessee, Taylor is projected to play on the perimeter under new coach Robert Saleh and coordinator Gus Bradley. That gives the Titans matchup ability in man coverage as well as tackling and vision in zone schemes. In four seasons with the Saints , Taylor had four interceptions and 40 pass breakups.
Taylor has been one of the most polarizing signings made by Borgonzi during the offseason, with media outlets having a wide range of opinions on his abilities and fit in Saleh’s defense. His versatility is a plus, and he gives defensive coordinator Gus Bradley tremendous flexibility in the back end of the defense, something that Bowen points out in this piece.
No. 38: John Franklin-Meyers, DT (signed by Tennessee Titans)
Franklin-Meyers is an active rusher who can play on the interior or the edges. And with that versatility, the Titans can use him in different alignments to create favorable matchups on a pass rush anchored by defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons.
The addition of Franklin-Myers was one of the most predictable of the offseason, and when it came to fruition, it significantly upgraded the Titans’ front and gave Jeffery Simmons another weapon next to him. Tennessee has struggled up front in past seasons, and his addition should help the Titans turn that around in 2026.
No. 43: Carnell Tate, WR (drafted by Tennessee Titans)
The Titans added Tate, along with free agent Wan'Dale Robinson, to improve the skill players around second-year quarterback Cam Ward. A glider with strong route running and coverage awareness, Tate will be asked to separate in one-on-one matchups and make himself available to Ward at multiple levels of the field.
The Titans surprised many analysts and fans when they selected Tate fourth overall in the 2026 NFL Draft. A polished outside receiver, he has deceptive deep-ball abilities and should quickly take over the role as the Titans’ top wideout.
