Bijan Robinson landed a three-year, $75 million contract extension with the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday, making him the highest-paid running back in NFL history.
Countless people reached out to Robinson following his massive contract news, including A-list actor Matthew McConaughey .
McConaughey, the "Minister of Culture" for the University of Texas athletic program, developed a relationship with Robinson over his three-year collegiate career with the Longhorns.
"There's been some cool people [who've reached out]. But as soon as the news hit, Matthew McConaughey hit me. As soon as it hit, he texted me," Robinson said on Wednesday. "It was cool to see him, as soon as it hit — he was the first one. So, that was cool."
Robinson amassed 4,215 yards from scrimmage and 41 rushing/receiving touchdowns through his three-year collegiate career in Austin. In his final campaign, he led the Big 12 with 1,580 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns.
Through his third NFL season in 2025, Robinson led the league with 2,298 yards from scrimmage — rushing for 1,478 yards and seven touchdowns, while reeling in 79 catches for 820 yards and four scores.
The Falcons will open up their 2026 regular-season campaign with a Week 1 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 13.
