Colts' Steichen evaluates Daniel Jones first training camp practice
Indianapolis Colts ' quarterback Daniel Jones was a full-go for the team's first training camp practice, and head coach Shane Steichen was pleased with what he saw from him.
Jones suffered an Achilles injury in the Colts' Week 14 matchup last season with Jacksonville.
"I thought he looked really good," Steichen said after practice. "Obviously his first day back, team periods, the way he was throwing the ball, completed a lot of passes, moved well, did some movement stuff with him, handled all that well. So, really pleased with where he was at today."
According to Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan , Jones took every starting rep and was 4-for-8 on the day passing. Jones also showcased his ability to operate outside of the pocket as well.
"Just consistency with coming back from the injury, gaining that strength back," Steichen said on what he wants to see. "Obviously, he looked pretty good today, but obviously, it's a day-by-day process with that. But he did a hell of a job today, and so we're just going to continue that growth and work through it."
Throughout Jones' rehab process, his teammates have been impressed with how quickly he's been able to work his way back into form, a testament to the work he put in on a daily basis.
"I think it means a lot to our group and our guys in that locker room to see the hard work that he's put in to be where he's at right now, doing full team reps eight months, whatever it is, post-op from his surgery," said Steichen. "It's a credit to him and the work that he's put in to be able to be out here to start training camp. It's pretty impressive."
