See the full story · 1 sources"Real Housewives of Orange County" alum Jeana Keough is unable to talk as she continues to undergo treatment for tongue cancer .
"Right now, Jeana isn’t talking," the reality star's daughter, Kara Bosworth, shared via her Instagram Stories Monday.
"The tongue and throat pain, paired with the mucus from radiation on the area, is just brutal," she continued. "Poor mama has to spit into tissues all day."
Bosworth has continuously shared updates on Keough, 70, after announcing the latter was diagnosed with cancer earlier this month.
“A few months ago, while visiting [my brother] Shane and me in Florida, my mom mentioned a painful spot on her tongue,” the 37-year-old wrote via a GoFundMe.
She added: “She assumed a tooth had been rubbing against it and had even gone to the dentist multiple times to have the tooth filed down.”
Bosworth recalled Keough realizing the spot had been on her tongue for "nearly a year" and "a biopsy confirmed [their] worst fear: squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue."
At the time, she confirmed the Bravo alum had already undergone two surgeries, including one to “remove lymph nodes."
However, the cancer had already spread, and Keough had been undergoing treatment for more than one month.
“She’s strong through this ,” the Bravolebrity's son Shane, 39, told Us Weekly on July 20, with Bosworth adding, "I think she’ll get cancer to bend to her will, like she does with everything else in life."
The following day, Bosworth shared a terrifying update , revealing Keough had to pause treatment after doctors found a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) clot and infection in her leg.
“Jeana was scheduled to get the G-tube this morning so she can get some nutrition. She hasn’t been able to eat a meal for 2 weeks, so she’s extremely depleted. We uncovered a DVT clot in her leg, and now an infection, too,” Bosworth shared on Instagram.
“The feeding tube can’t be put directly into her stomach until there’s clarity on the infection," Bosworth added. "Chemo and radiation is temporarily paused so we can figure this out but you better believe Jeana is insisting she only had a ‘fake fever’ and that she’s fine to continue with the surgery."
In addition to Shane and Bosworth, Keough is also the mom to son Colton, 34, with her late ex-husband, Matt .
Keough was an original "RHOC" cast member on the show until Season 5 and has returned numerous times over the years as a guest and friend.
