It's the first of three home Leagues Cup matches in an eight-day span for NSC. Following those matches, the top four MLS and Liga MX teams in the cup standings will advance to the knockout stage. There are no draws in the Leagues Cup, with tied matches going straight to penalty kicks.
NSC is 3-2-4 in its previous two Leagues Cup appearances, the most recent of which came in 2024. NSC reached the inaugural Leagues Cup final in 2023, falling in penalties to Inter Miami.
The Boys in Gold are coming off a 2-2 draw at D.C. United in which they led 2-0 at halftime. Hany Mukhtar was substituted in the second half with an injury and is a game-time decision against León, per coach B.J. Callaghan, while Cristian Espinoza remains out.
