It’s time to start preparing for the 2026 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 3 of the Fran Brown Era.

Name: Davien Kerr
Position: Defensive Back
Year: Junior
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 190 lbs
Hometown: Bloomfield, CT
High School: Bloomfield
2025 stats: Kerr played all 12 games for Syracuse last year, making three starts. In addition to a few punt returns, Kerr made 16 tackles with three interceptions and four pass defends.
2026 projections: It’s impressive how much value Kerr adds to Syracuse for as little time as he’s seen on the field. He’s got natural ball hawk abilities that not many Orange secondary players can claim to have. He told me he’s moving to safety this season, so a change in position might give him the playing time he needs to continuously impact the field like he has in the past.
How’d he get here?: Syracuse was the only FBS school to offer Kerr. UMass, Morgan State, Wagner, Maine and Central Connecticut State were the other DI offers Kerr had.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Only a two-star ranking from Rivals. Unrated everywhere else.
