OKC extended the fully-guaranteed deal to Jones on Saturday. Denver had until 10:59 p.m. CT Sunday to match and retain the 25-year-old forward.
The Thunder still has one open roster spot remaining after trading Lu Dort to the Atlanta Hawks on July 19. It's about $6.9 million underneath the second apron.
OKC could continue to search free agency for that 15th and final member of its roster, although it's important to remember that any signings would increase the team's luxury tax bill. It could also promote one of its two-way players or simply keep the spot open entering this season.
