Short-notice fights, yay.
Up until today (Weds., July 29, 2026), next weekend’s UFC Vegas 120 card was looking very thin.
The event — headlined by No. 8-ranked Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight contender Mateusz Gamrot vs. No. 12-seeded Quillan Salkilld — had just eight fights scheduled.
Well, that has now changed as the UFC matchmakers have added two late-notice bouts to the lineup, signing two rookies who will both debut against UFC veterans.
On just 10 days’ notice, 12-fight UFC Bantamweight veteran Miles Johns will take on Jessie Rosas , the older brother of UFC Bantamweight prospect Raul Rosas Jr. In addition, Brazilian knockout artist Manoel Sousa will welcome LFA Lightweight champion Richie Miranda to the Octagon.

Johns (15-5-1) enters UFC Vegas 120 riding a three-fight losing streak and could very well be fighting for his UFC career.
The 31-year-old was last in action against Daniel Marcos , who submitted him in the second round ( watch highlights ). Prior to that, Johns dropped competitive decisions to Jean Matsumoto and Felipe Lima .
Rosas (8-1), meanwhile, is one of three fighting Rosas brothers and enters his UFC debut on a three-fight win streak, with two of those victories coming by finish.
His lone career defeat came in a massive upset loss to regional journeyman Keenan Lewis . Rosas holds a 75 percent finish rate with four submissions and two knockouts ( like this ).
Sousa (14-1) will be making his second UFC appearance after delivering one of the nastier debuts of the year.
In his first Octagon outing, “Manumito” obliterated Bolaji Oki with a one-punch knockout, earning a $100,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus in the process ( watch highlights ).
Sousa is also a season nine Contender Series contract winner and enters UFC Vegas 120 riding a three-fight win streak. He has nine knockouts on his resume.
Miranda (13-1), meanwhile, is a very solid signing and probably should have been in UFC already.
“El Machete” is riding a seven-fight win streak and has defended his LFA Lightweight title three times against solid competition. He is coming off a second-round bulldog choke submission win over Robert Varricchio .
