Entering his eighth season as head coach and 10th overall year in Columbus, Ryan Day opened his Big Ten Media Days press conference by emphasizing the profound privilege of leading the Ohio State Buckeyes .
Day stated that "it's more of an honor today than it ever has been for me to stand up here after 10 years at Ohio State, eight years now as the head coach, to represent our program, to represent Ohio State University, represent the great state of Ohio and all of our fans."
He took time to recognize the leadership of Big Ten Commissioner Tony Petitti , praising his relentless work ethic and noting how well-positioned the conference is under his guidance.
Day also expressed appreciation for Ohio State's new university president, Ravi Bellamkonda, highlighting his intelligence and ability to quickly identify and solve problems.
A cornerstone of the Buckeyes' sustained success, according to Day, is the remarkable stability within the coaching staff. He pointed out that long-tenured stalwarts like Mick Marotti, Nick Pantoni, and Larry Johnson have dedicated 15 years to the program, noting that "that stability is critical."

On the business and innovation side, Day thanked athletic director Ross Bjork for constantly challenging the program to adapt, specifically highlighting a major newly announced jersey patch partnership with JPMorgan Chase. On a personal level, Day shared gratitude for his wife Nina, whom he described as the rock of the family and an essential partner in navigating the demanding coaching profession, while also celebrating his son R.J.'s commitment to play football at Northwestern.
