Tanker spilled thousands of gallons of fuel after overturning in Queens, officials say Wednesday, August 19, 2026 4:49PM Stream New York's #1 news - AccuWeather - original content 24/7 ROSEDALE, Queens (WABC) -- A tanker truck has overturned in the middle of the street in Queens and is leaking 3,000 gallons of fuel.
Both FDNY and Nassau Fire Department responded to Rockaway Boulevard in Rosedale just after 11 a.m.
There is no word on injuries or what caused the accident.
All lanes on Rockaway Turnpike from the intersections of Peninsula Boulevard to Brookville Boulevard are closed in both directions.
Initial crews found gasoline leaking into the storm drains. The leak has now been stopped and foam is covering all of the leaked fuel, officials say.
Crews say it will take hours to clean up the spilled fuel.
