According to NFL insider Field Yates , the Steelers have restructured DK Metcalf ‘s contract, converting base salary into a signing bonus and creating nearly $18 million in 2026 salary cap space. After arriving in Pittsburgh via a trade from Seattle in March 2025, the star receiver signed a four-year, $132 million extension.
Much was made about the remaining guarantees on Metcalf’s contract late last season after language in his contract signaled that the Steelers could void them after his interaction with a fan in Detroit. The team chose not to do so, however, then added fellow veteran wideout Michael Pittman Jr. and rookie second-round pick Germie Bernard to the room this offseason.
Metcalf led the Steelers with 850 receiving yards and six touchdown grabs a campaign ago, with his supporting cast consisting of the likes of Calvin Austin III, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Adam Thielen. Early in training camp, Metcalf’s connection with quarterback Aaron Rodgers was on full display. The two grew closer over the offseason, as well.
