That includes the Horseshoe, Autzen Stadium, Beaver Stadium and Michigan Stadium, venues that have helped define the sport for generations.
Yeah, there are some stinkers, too. Stadiums at Maryland, Rutgers and (for now) Northwestern don’t necessarily move the needle, let alone provide a home-field advantage for the Terrapins, Scarlet Knights and Wildcats.
But the top of the list is elite. Here’s how USA TODAY Sports ranks the Big Ten home fields:
1. Ohio Stadium, Ohio State
Start with this: The Buckeyes have lost just three games at home since 2016. Two of those losses have come in the rivalry against Michigan. Basically, any trip to the Horseshoe with a crowd of more than 100,000 mostly against your team is as close to a guaranteed loss as you’ll find in the Power Four.

2. Autzen Stadium, Oregon
Autzen has been as unfriendly as ever under coach Dan Lanning. The Ducks have lost just twice at home since hiring Lanning in 2022 and just once since joining the Big Ten. This stretch rivals the most dominant run of play at home in program history, a 21-game winning streak under former Chip Kelly that ended with a loss to Southern California in 2011.
3. Beaver Stadium, Penn State
The Nittany Lions ’ sense of invincibility at Beaver Stadium took a hit in 2025 with losses at home to Oregon, Northwestern and Indiana to open Big Ten play. When things are working, however, the huge crowd for the annual “White Out” games can make Beaver Stadium one of the toughest places to play in the country.
4. Michigan Stadium, Michigan
The largest venue in college sports is also the largest by seating capacity in the Western Hemisphere and the third-largest in the world. At times, the Wolverines have turned the 100,000-plus crowd into an intimidating horror for visitors, though the noise never quite seems to match the number of fans in the seats.

5. Kinnick Stadium, Iowa
Iowa’s 27-8 mark at home since 2021 has help the Hawkeyes maintain their place among the top programs in the Big Ten. Debuting in 2017, “The Hawkeye Wave” will have players and fans turn at the end of the opening quarter and wave to the patients at Stead Family Children's Hospital.
6. Camp Randall Stadium, Wisconsin
Like a few others stadiums in Big Ten country, Camp Randall isn’t quite the visiting-team nightmare it used to be. But the traditions are elite. None are more memorable than the “Jump Around” stampede at the end of the third quarter, which began in 1998 and was the soundtrack to the Badgers’ development into a powerhouse under former coach Barry Alvarez.

7. Memorial Stadium, Nebraska
This is one of the most iconic spots in college football but not really a fear-inducing locale for visitors, even if things have slowly started to improve under coach Matt Rhule. Despite the lack of sustained success since the early 2000s, the stands will be full of red with the Cornhuskers’ sellout streak shows no real signs of slowing down.
8. Husky Stadium, Washington
The stadium has earned its title as one of the loudest in the Power Four. Of course, that’s only if UW is playing well. Even when not, though, Husky Stadium has one of the sport’s most beautiful backdrops and one of the coolest traditions: the “sailgating” boats checking out the action from Lake Washington.
9. Memorial Stadium, Indiana
Memorial Stadium began to turn into a house of horrors for visiting teams in the second half of the 2024 season, when the Hoosiers sold out four home games in a row in Curt Cignetti’s debut. Last year’s team was a juggernaut at home (and away). Every dominant season at home will inch IU up this list.
10. Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Southern California
From a history and tradition perspective – not just the Trojans but the Olympics, the Super Bowl and more – the Coliseum is one of the top venues in college sports. But the hit-or-miss intensity and disappearing crowds amid any downturn drops the stadium down this list.
11. Spartan Stadium, Michigan State
The Spartans ’ home field edge has basically vanished since the end of the Mark Dantonio era. But Spartan Stadium can get rocking and rolling against the premier opponents on the schedule, especially if games against Michigan, Notre Dame or Ohio State are in prime time.

12. Memorial Stadium, Illinois
The dismal days of the late 2010s have been replaced by consistency and a spot in the Top 25. Attendance under Bret Bielema is at Illinois’ highest since the 2000s and the past two teams have won six games at home; before 2024, that hadn’t happened since 2001.
13. Huntington Bank Stadium, Minnesota
The Gophers’ 50,000-seat capacity makes this one of the cozier and colder venues in the Big Ten and Power Four. Minnesota has been very solid but not dominant at home under longtime coach P.J. Fleck, helping set the foundation for five bowl berths in a row.
14. Rose Bowl, UCLA
The Rose Bowl itself shares an address but not much else with the Rose Bowl game, including the pageantry and attendance for the granddaddy of college football’s postseason. Another minus is the roughly 30-minute drive from UCLA’s campus, if you’re lucky. But the hype around new coach Bob Chesney could make Pasadena a tougher place for Big Ten teams to visit in 2026.
15. Ross-Ade Stadium, Purdue
