Next, Washington activated Dorance Armstrong, Trey Amos, and Tress Way from the physically unable to perform/non-football injury lists.
The Commanders then took to the practice field.
Which players shined on Friday? Here are four standouts from Day 7.
RB Jacory 'Bill' Croskey-Merritt
Croskey-Merritt put on some weight this offseason in anticipation of being Washington's lead back in 2026. While the added weight will help, Croskey-Merritt must prove he's a capable receiver out of the backfield and that he's over his fumbling issues. We'll need to see if Bill can hang onto the ball in games, but as far as receiving goes, it's been a good start to training camp. Croskey-Merritt is catching everything thrown to him, which bodes very well for his status as the unquestioned starter in 2026. He had another good day on Friday.
CB Fabian Moreau
Signed earlier this week when Ahkello Witherspoon unexpectedly retired, the former Washington third-round pick immediately went to work. According to Zach Selby of Commanders.com, Moreau had an interception on Friday.
Cornerback Fabian Moreau is already making plays for the defense. He jumped in front of a pass from Marcus Mariota to Colson Yankoff and returned it for a handful of yards before being touched down. Part of Moreau's appeal comes from his experience with Daronte Jones and the defense when he played for the Minnesota Vikings . It seems that Moreau is already up to speed and looking to win a roster spot.
If Washington keeps five corners, you'd imagine Moreau is No. 5. Witherspoon was ticketed for that spot before his retirement. The cornerback position looks much better than it did one month ago, but there are still questions.
Speaking of cornerback.....
CB Rasul Douglas
Douglas signed last month, and he's been one of the most consistent players in training camp through the first week. Douglas has gone toe-to-toe with Terry McLaurin, battled, and picked off multiple passes. Douglas had another good day on Friday. He just continues to show up. Douglas plays with a lot of confidence. Like any good cornerback, when he gets beat, he immediately moves on to the next play. It's hard to imagine Douglas not being one of Washington's starting cornerbacks in Week 1.

For the first several days of camp, incumbent kicker Jake Moody did not miss a kick. Stevens, the undrafted rookie from Iowa, went mostly neck-and-neck with Moody, but did miss a couple. However, in recent days, Stevens has been on fire, and Moody has missed a few. On Friday, Stevens again made every kick Z — all 8 — while Moody went 5 of 7. Stevens made two long field goals from 53 and 56, while both of Moody's misses were from long range (53, 58).
