With Arsenal’s move for Bruno Guimaraes edging ever closer to completion, it appears the Gunners are also making progress in another deal, this time for highly-rated Blackburn Rovers youngster Igor Tyjon.
According to GiveMeSport , Arsenal are closing in on an agreement to sign the 18-year-old forward, with the club hoping to complete a deal worth around £2 million plus add-ons.
Arsenal look set to win race for Tyjon
The report, citing journalist Alan Nixon, claims Tyjon has entered the final year of his Blackburn contract after rejecting several offers to extend his stay at Ewood Park.
With the youngster’s future unresolved, Blackburn are now reportedly preparing for his departure, and Arsenal are looking to move quickly to secure his signature.
Interest in Tyjon is nothing new. Earlier this year, reports suggested Manchester United were also monitoring the teenager , highlighting the growing competition for one of Blackburn’s brightest young prospects.
Should the deal go through, Arsenal would appear to have won that particular battle.
One for the future
At just 18 years of age, Tyjon would not be expected to walk straight into Mikel Arteta’s first-team plans.
Instead, the move would continue Arsenal’s recent strategy of identifying some of the country’s most promising young talents before they establish themselves at senior level.
The Gunners have consistently invested in youth in recent years, and Tyjon could become another exciting addition to the club’s long-term project if an agreement is finalised.

Another busy week for Arsenal
The report comes as Arsenal continue to reshape their squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
With Bruno Guimaraes widely expected to become the club’s next marquee signing , adding an emerging talent such as Tyjon would represent another piece of business as Andrea Berta and the recruitment team continue to strengthen both the present and the future.
As always, supporters will have to wait for further developments, but the latest reports suggest Arsenal are moving quickly to secure one of England’s most highly-rated young forwards.
Would you like to see Arsenal continue investing in young British talent alongside marquee signings, or should the club focus solely on first-team additions? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
