The San Francisco 49ers dealt with a plethora of injury issues last season, and while the preseason has yet to even begin, the 49ers have already dealt with their fair share of injury problems this year.
Ricky Pearsall will miss the entire 2026 season, and a few other players are dealing with noteworthy injury issues. One of those players is Nick Bosa, coming back from an ACL tear last season.
According to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area , Kyle Shanahan revealed Bosa has right knee tendinitis. It's a worrying update, even though Shanahan implied that it's a "normal thing" for players after ACL tears.

"Coach Kyle Shanahan said 49ers DE Nick Bosa has tendinitis, which, he said, is 'a pretty normal thing with ACLs.' He said the team has to be smart with Bosa from week to week," Maiocco reports.
This update from Shanahan on Bosa isn't exactly encouraging. The 49ers' first preseason game is this week, and this update from Shanahan makes it seem like Bosa is still a ways off from coming back.
While he could still suit up for the regular season opener against the Los Angeles Rams , it will be interesting to see if the 49ers forgo that game for Bosa since it's in Australia, and the travel might make things a bit more complicated long-term for Bosa.

There's been speculation that a similar situation could happen for George Kittle, who is also recovering from a serious injury, though his was an Achilles compared to Bosa's ACL.
Bosa, the five-time Pro Bowler and former Defensive Player of the Year, is heading into a contract year, with his 2027 contract needing to be changed, whether it's a trade, release, or extension.
The 2026 season is a huge one for Bosa and the 49ers, and with this latest update that the edge rusher is week to week as he deals with right knee tendinitis, it's a bit of a worrying situation for San Francisco leading into the preseason and regular season.
