The initial release of the Madden NFL 27 ratings database features a comprehensive look at former Iowa State standouts.
At the top of the class, running back Breece Hall is the highest-rated Cyclone with an 87 overall (OVR) rating. Hall’s profile is defined by elite movement, including 92 speed, 90 agility, and a 91 in Change of Direction. He is followed closely by San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, who carries an 85 OVR. While Purdy’s strength is rated at 63, he compensates with a high 86 awareness and 89 injury resistance.
Speed and Playmaking Depth
The database highlights significant speed across the board. Defensive back Darien Porter stands out as the fastest individual in the group with a 96 speed rating and a 92 in agility. Other notable speedsters include wide receiver Jaylin Noel (93 speed), running back Kene Nwangwu (92 speed), and defensive back Myles Purchase (89 speed).
In the passing game, Jayden Higgins (77 OVR) and Xavier Hutchinson (73 OVR) provide reliable targets with speed ratings of 89 and 88, respectively. Hutchinson also boasts an 86 agility rating and 92 injury resistance. Tight end Charlie Kolar (68 OVR) brings a 91 injury resistance score and 84 speed to the field.
Power and Defensive Presence
On the defensive side, Will McDonald IV leads with a 78 OVR and an 88 agility rating. Defensive backs TJ Tampa (70 OVR) and Anthony Johnson Jr. (66 OVR) are among the most durable players in the game, both holding injury resistance ratings of 93 and 92, respectively. Linebacker Jake Hummel (62 OVR) also shares that 92 injury resistance mark.
In the trenches, Jalen Travis leads the group in raw power with an 88 strength rating. He is joined by James Neal III and Domonique Orange, who both received 86 strength marks. Defensive lineman Eyioma Uwazurike (69 OVR) combines an 83 strength rating with 91 injury resistance.
Veteran Leadership and Line Depth
David Montgomery remains one of the most reliable players in the database with an 83 OVR and a group-leading 94 awareness rating. The list is rounded out by wide receiver Hakeem Butler (66 OVR), who possesses 87 speed and 92 injury resistance, and offensive linemen Julian Good-Jones (64 OVR) and Jim Bonifas (60 OVR). Good-Jones features a notable 93 in Change of Direction, while Bonifas brings an 84 strength rating to the interior line.
