Caitlin Clark Suspended After Eighth Technical Foul of Season

After earning her eighth technical foul of the season on Saturday, Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark received a one-game suspension for the Fever's game against the New York Liberty on Tuesday.
In the final minutes of the third quarter, Clark ran into an official after dribbling the ball past Chicago Sky guard Natasha Cloud. As a result of the contact, Clark was dealt a technical foul. After the game, Clark said the contact was not intentional, so she hopes the WNBA will rescind the call and make her eligible for Tuesday's game.
“(The referee) said I ran into her. I’ve already watched it on the tape,” Clark told ESPN’s Holly Rowe after the game. “So, we’ll let the league decide, but it wasn’t intentional or anything. So, I’m hoping it’s getting rescinded, Holly. … I’ll see you on Tuesday!”
Fever coach Stephanie White also received a technical foul for her reaction to the call against Clark.
After Clark received her seventh technical foul of the season on July 22 against the Connecticut Sun, she explained that part of her game is being intense and fiery. However, she understands she must find a balance to ensure she is available to play for the Fever.
"That intensity and that fire is what makes me, me," Clark said. "But also knowing my team needs me and finding a good balance of that. But I don't think I'm going to be playing with that in the back of my head, I think that might hinder my play a little bit. I think just continue to be myself and then just try to refocus, to focus on my teammates and how I can help them."
Clark currently leads the WNBA with eight technical fouls this season, while Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese trails closely behind with seven.
