Barcelona boss Hansi Flick confirmed that Gavi suffered a knee injury during Sunday’s 5-0 win over Elche in their La Liga opener.
Gavi was forced off in the first half of the victory and Flick offered an update on his midfielder after the victory.
“Yes, it’s in the knee. We have to wait. It’s a little better than he expected when he got injured. After the game was much better. We will make an MRI and see,” he told reporters.
Barcelona and Gavi now face a really anxious wait to discover the severity of the problem. Gavi’s career has been disrupted by knee injuries and the hope will be that he’s not suffered another problem that will see him sidelined yet again.
After winning 5-0, Barcelona will now head home and start preparing for a midweek clash with Athletic Club at Camp Nou on Thursday evening.
In the meantime, Gavi will undergo tests on his latest injury. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that he’s OK.
