The Chicago Bears have one of the best young cores on the offensive side of the ball in today's game. Caleb Williams is a young QB heading into year three, Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III are young wide receivers, and Colston Loveland is a young tight end.
All of those players are approaching the upper-echelon of players for their respective positions. Even Ben Johnson, the head coach and playcaller, is one of the younger coaches in the league. But a different youngster is getting paid.
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler , fan favorite right tackle Darnell Wright and the Bears are reportedly in agreement on a record-breaking, $116 million contract extension.
Bears agree to $116M record-breaking deal with Darnell Wright
"Chicago Bears and RT Darnell Wright reach agreement on a four-year, $116M extension with $93M guaranteed, per me and @RapSheet," Fowler reports. "Deal is biggest ever for a right tackle and most guaranteed money for an OL in NFL history."
Wright, the 24-year-old offensive tackle, is now making the most money ever for any right tackle in NFL history.
Not Penei Sewell or Lane Johnson, but now Wright is the largest contract of any right tackle in league history.
He is also now getting $93 million guaranteed on his new deal, which is also a record for any offensive lineman. That's a ton of money the Bears are guaranteeing Wright, but it's worth it.

Wright might not be a Pro Bowler yet in his career, but he did just earn his first second-team All-Pro nod. It was a great season, playing 16 games plus both playoff games for the Bears in another standout season.
He's been one of the best offensive tackles in the league, and the Bears are now signing him to a long-term extension, breaking the RT contract record and the guaranteed money record for all offensive linemen.
It's a major financial commitment for the Bears, but it's a worthwhile one to keep Wright locked into Chicago for the foreseeable future.
