However, more top talent is to be welcomed by teams in pursuit of dominance over the rest of the league whenever such players become available... and no roster is perfect. The Bills and the 31 other teams in the NFL could use their help.
NFL.com went through the list of remaining free agent star linebacker Bobby Wagner as a fit for the Bills as the 2026 NFL season draws closer:
“Questioning how much the 36-year-old has left in what should be a Hall of Fame career is fair, but statistically speaking, Wagner wakes up with 100 tackles,” NFL.com said. “He’s got 14 seasons under his belt and in each one he’s hit triple digits, with 10 straight eclipsing 130. After 162 tackles last season, including 4.5 sacks, there’s run left and the Bills need an off-ball 'backer with Matt Milano gone and Terrel Bernard’s trajectory hindered by injuries.”
Wagner also recorded two interceptions and four passes defended last season with the Washington Commanders .
The former Super Bowl champion played well in his age-35 season in 2025 and showed that he is still capable of getting after the quarterback and stopping the run.
Buffalo had one of the best defenses against the pass last season, but struggled to stop the run. Wagner is a free agent with the abilities to help the Bills perform better in that area as well next season. The Bills also have a potential hole at the starting linebacker position in the middle next to Terrel Bernard. Currently Dorian Williams and fourth-round rookie Kaleb Elarms-Orr, two inexperienced players, are battling to start next to Bernard.
