The two-time NFL Most Valuable Player has told family members that he plans to limit distractions and remain focused throughout this urgent campaign. Baltimore’s 8-9 finish last season reinforced the importance of sustaining that approach instead of becoming comfortable after a promising start.
“I don’t care if we start off 5-0, 6-0,” Jackson said on “ The Lounge” podcast. “We’ve got to finish. We’ve got to finish the whole season.”
Jackson then described the commitment he intends to make.
“I just told even my family, I’m locked in this whole season,” Jackson said. “I’m really not trying to see nobody. We’ve got to win. We’ve got to focus. Offseason, we can deal with it, but during the season, it’s like, nah, we’ve got to lock in.”
Jackson has never hidden his desire to win a Super Bowl. Baltimore has reached the postseason six times during his career and advanced to the AFC championship game following the 2023 season, but the franchise has not returned to the Super Bowl since winning it after the 2012 campaign. The quarterback said he has imagined what it would feel like to stand beneath the confetti after securing a championship. Watching Joe Flacco, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and the rest of Baltimore’s last title team created an image Jackson wants to experience himself.
“I want to be one of those guys to leave that behind for them when I’m done playing football,” Jackson said.
At 29, Jackson rejected the suggestion that age has suddenly created the urgency. He said he has wanted to win immediately since Baltimore drafted him in 2018.
What has changed is his understanding of the daily process required to reach that goal. Jackson no longer wants the Ravens merely talking about February. He wants them to finish every practice, every game, and ultimately the season.
