Michael Morales is a big boy .
Standing at 6’ with a 79” reach, the densely muscled contender has been able to impose his will on all of his opposition thus far. Undefeated at 19-0, size was clearly a factor in his first-round knockout victory over Sean Brady (watch here) . Brady, the vaunted grappler, could not close distance effectively or push around the standout from Ecuador, which allowed Morales to hammer him with nasty uppercuts.
All that size does not come freely, of course. Morales is not scheduled to fight this weekend (Sat., Aug. 15, 2026) at UFC 330 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but he is the main event backup for Islam Makhachev vs. Ian Machado Garry . If either man is to miss weight or suffer a last-second injury, Morales will have a massive opportunity on his hands.
Provided he makes weight.
On Monday, Morales revealed his weight to be around 193 pounds via an Instagram story. After a workout, Morales was down to 190 pounds (click over to see an updated scale picture), but he still has to cut a FULL 20 pounds by Friday morning’s weigh-in event.
Michael Morales pèse actuellement 87,5 kg. 😳⚖️ Il doit perdre plus de 10 kg pour faire le poids vendredi, en tant que backup du combat Makhachev/Garry. https://t.co/CqjLnPpFym

As backup for a title fight, there is no one pound allowance granted to Morales. Cutting 20 pounds in four days is not unheard of, but it’s proof that Morales is cutting more water weight than the majority of his peers. Thus far, it’s worked out in his favor, but weight cuts rarely grow easier with age. At 27 years of age, Morales may not have more than a handful of years left at Welterweight.
Fortunately, he’s only a win or two away from gold already.
