See the full story · 1 sourcesJOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Defending All American Amateur Baseball Association Tournament champion Mainline Pharmacy produced what manager Chance Osborne labeled a “complete team effort” in Monday night’s official opener in the 81st AAABA Tournament.
A lot of new faces are in the lineup since the Johnstown representative hoisted the championship trophy a year ago, but this group continues to build on the franchise's tournament resume.

Two members of the youth movement showed up in front of a paid attendance of 5,829 fans. Recent high school graduates Tanner Stroup, of Altoona Area, and Xander Richardson, of Forest Hills, combined to collect six hits, seven RBIs and five runs scored in Mainline Pharmacy’s 13-3 seven-inning win over the New York City SAYO Grays.
“It’s awesome,” said center fielder Stroup, a Marshall University commit who had two triples among his three hits and drove in five runs. “That’s my first time playing in front of a crowd like that. I’ve played in some big games in my life and been to a lot of big places, but this one is special to me.
“I’ve never been to a national tournament like this. I just want to win for the fellas out here and go out there and show out for all of these people and be the player I am, be a great teammate.”
A second baseman, Richardson launched a two-run homer that cleared the screen above the left-field scoreboard in the second inning. He added two singles and scored three runs.
“A little bit of nerves, first at-bat,” said Richardson, who fell behind 0-2 before his homer, “but after the first pitch, it all went away. Just excitement from then on. I honestly feel like I do better in two-strike counts.
“I was mostly seeing offspeed, but he threw me a fastball inside,” added Richardson, who batted in the 10th spot because Mainline Pharmacy utilized the extra-hitter rule. “I just reacted. To be honest, I have not hit one off the screen, let alone a home run. I was beating it down to first base and hopefully hustling for a double. I was excited (when the ball cleared the screen).”
In Pool C, Mainline Pharmacy will play Youngstown (0-1) at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Sargent’s Stadium at the Point. New York City will face Cleveland (1-0) at 12:30 p.m. at the Forest Hills Junior-Senior High School field.
“With 16 hits, the whole team contributed,” Osborne said. “Two young guys, Tanner and Xander, everybody did their job. Both of those guys are right out of high school.”
Mainline Pharmacy outhit the SAYO Grays 16-2.
Both of New York’s hits were no-doubt home runs by left fielder Jasmark Munoz – a two-run blast to deep left-center field in the first inning and a solo over the wall in the fourth.
“He’s a special player,” New York City manager Darrel Tiebout said. “He’s committed to Connors State (junior college) in Oklahoma. He’s been with us for three years, and he’s hit like that for three years. This was nothing new to us.”
Mainline Pharmacy’s Bryce Roberts totaled two hits, including a double, and Landon Hamer collected a pair of knocks, with a double. Aiden Snowberger added two hits.
The offensive support was enough for two Mainline Pharmacy pitchers.
Left-hander Chase Williamson, a Forest Hills High School graduate who plays at Delgado Community College, threw five innings, striking out seven and walking one.
Right-hander Bryce Madden pitched two dominant innings in relief, striking out five of the six batters he faced.
“Hats off to two good swings by Munoz,” Osborne said, “but the pitching from Chase Williamson and Bryce Madden combined – excellent. To get out of here with two of our veteran arms, and Madden with a low pitch count thanks to our offense, great team effort.”
