The Toronto Tempo acquired burgeoning forward Aneesah Morrow in a trade with the Connecticut Sun on Friday, the teams announced. In exchange, Toronto sent Connecticut a 2028 second-round pick and the rights to Maria Kliundikova.
Then, in a corresponding move, the Tempo waived guard Tima Pouye, a French native who has appeared in 19 of Toronto’s 28 games. Along the way, Pouye has started once and averaged 9.4 minutes, 3.2 points and 1.2 assists.
Morrow, meanwhile, has taken a second-year jump in the W. Across her 20 games with the Sun this season, she posted 11.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. That’s a steep increase from her 7.7 points and 6.9 boards per contest that she logged during her rookie campaign after Connecticut selected her seventh overall out of LSU in last year’s draft.

Plus, the 6-foot-1 Morrow has bumped up her field-goal and 3-point percentages this time around. Last year, she was shooting 37.5% from the field and 24% from 3. Now she’s got a 42.1% clip from the floor, and she’s converting an improved 28.4% of her 3-point attempts.
Morrow’s averages don’t even exactly indicate the kind of impact she’s capable of making on games. She’s amassed nine double-doubles this year, and she’s scored at least 15 points on seven occasions.
In fact, Morrow’s coming off back-to-back 21-point outbursts. She went 4 of 7 from deep in the first of those two outings, a loss to the Washington Mystics.
