Porsche builds a lot of special editions these days, but few come with a hard geographic wall around them. The 911 GT3 Bergsport is one of those: a market edition sold only in Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland, and American buyers simply do not get a seat at the table.
Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur built just 100 examples, each one dressed as a rolling tribute to Alpine hillclimb racing. It is based on the current 911 GT3 with Touring Package, and it has its world premiere at the Arosa ClassicCar event on September 3, 2026, on the same 4.5-mile course that climbs about 1,385 feet where Porsche's Bergspyder racers once ran.
Porsche 911 GT3 Bergsport Pays Tribute To Alpine Roads
Porsche says the car "combines pure driving enjoyment with design elements inspired by the Alps," and the styling backs that up. The standout feature is a new paint color called Valleygreenmetallic, developed through the automaker's Paint to Sample Plus program specifically for this run. Inside, buyers get bespoke Valleygreen leather with decorative stitching patterned after mountain peaks, a detail you will not find on any regular 911 GT3 edition.
Mechanically, the Bergsport leans on the Lightweight Package. That brings forged aluminum wheels and, more importantly, a six-speed manual gearbox for buyers who still want to row their own gears through a mountain pass. A front-axle lift system helps clear steep driveways and tight switchbacks, while a 23.8-gallon fuel tank stretches range for long touring days in the Alps rather than short blasts on a track.
Porsche frames the whole project as pairing "the technical prowess of the current 911 GT3 with styling that reflects the brand's close connection to the Alpine region." That connection runs deeper than marketing copy. The Bergspyder name lives on in Porsche's history of purpose-built European hillclimb specials, and the Bergsport is the modern, road-legal nod to that lineage, not a track weapon like the 911 GT3 Manthey package.
Only 100 Cars, Four Countries, No US Allocation
Porsche's French, Italian, Austrian and Swiss teams developed the edition jointly, which explains why it is tied so tightly to those four countries specifically. It is a similar playbook to how the brand has handled other region-locked 911 GT3 special editions in the past, rewarding local markets with something the rest of the world can only watch from a distance.
The Bergsport keeps the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six from the regular 911 GT3, with 502 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque sent to the rear wheels. That fits the brief for a road-legal hillclimb tribute, since it favors a high-revving, manual layout over chasing more power. For American enthusiasts, the only way to experience it for now is from afar, through videos and photos of those 100 cars working hard in the Alps.
