Finland got a tight 5-4 win over Czechia on Wednesday. After the first two periods, it seemed like it would be an easy win for Finland, but Czechia had a ton of fight left. Going into the third period, Finland was up 5-2, but the Czechs scored two goals in the first five minutes of the period to make it a tight game. However, Finland survived thanks to a powerful offense. Paavo Fugleberg and Luca Santala each had one goal and one assist.
Meanwhile, Canada got a 7-4 win over Switzerland. The team came out on fire, scoring five goals in the first period. While Switzerland would score two goals in the next two periods, that five-goal cushion for Canada was all that it needed. Canada had no problem sharing the puck, with all seven goals scored by seven different players.
The Hlinka Gretzky Cup is an annual international under-18 ice hockey tournament administered by Hockey Canada, the Czech Ice Hockey Association, and the Slovak Ice Hockey Federation. It has been held annually since 1991.
