A great attack doesn't go anywhere with a solid setters. These five helped pave the way for their teams last season.
Here are some of the top returning setters from the San Antonio area for 2026.
Rylie Coates, Kerrville Tivy, Sr.
Coates, who is committed to Air Force, is a third-year starter and fourth-year letterwinner, who earned all-state honors after recording 691 assists, 110 kills, 52 blocks and 263 digs in a two-setter system. She has also earned national recognition by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Lauren Garcia, Reagan, Sr.
Garcia, who is committed to Louisiana Tech, finished strong in 2025 after being injured for most of the season. Despite that, Garcia still tallied 597 assists in 80 sets (7.5 average). Garcia was a 2024 Express-News Super Team selection after recording 1,283 assists. She has 2,678 career assists.
Lorena Gomez, Incarnate Word, Sr.
Gomez recorded 989 assists in 121 sets (8.2 average), 361 digs and 65 aces for the Shamrocks. Gomez has 2,427 career assists in three seasons.
Logan Sanders, New Braunfels Canyon, Sr.
Sanders, who is committed to Rutgers, is on a mind-boggling pace for career assists with 3,345 in three seasons. That's impressive considering she split setting duties as a freshman. Sanders recorded 1,405 assists in 134 sets in 2025. For the last two seasons, she has 2,733 in 268 sets (10.2 average). She was an Express-News Super Team selection in 2025.
Sydney Whisenton, Cornerstone, Jr.
Whisenton, who is committed to Baylor, engineers Cornerstone's talented attack after recording 524 assists, 206 kills and 194 digs. She was named the MVP of the Nike Tournament of Champions in Florida. Whisenton was a member of the 2025 Express-News Super Team.
