Tyler Glasnow’s Strong Rehab Start Bodes Well for Dodgers
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow made his first rehab start with Class-A Ontario on Tuesday, finally taking a big step in his progress to an MLB return.
He threw two innings for the Tower Buzzers on Tuesday, allowing just one hit and striking out one batter without allowing a run. The right-hander threw just 16 pitches in the outing, and pitched another simulated inning afterwards.
Interestingly, Glasnow faced off against rehabbing San Diego Padres starters Nick Pivetta and Joe Musgrove on the other side.
“It was good,” Glasnow said . “It’s always nice to come out and start your rehab starts, get off of a mound in a game atmosphere. I felt healthy and strong, and I’m ready to keep going.”
According to MLB.com’s Sonja Chen , the Dodgers could activate Glasnow after two more starts—when he is expected to build up to four innings. After his first start, Glasnow outlined his goals for the remainder of his rehab assignment.
“I think right now it’s just timing,” Glasnow said . “I think staying healthy will kind of be a normal thing throughout the week. I’ve already healed and feel good, I think a lot of it’s just getting back to that in-game feel. If there’s any kind of timing issues, just kind of ironing them out right now.”

Manager Dave Roberts said Glasnow’s next rehab start will come Sunday with the Tower Buzzers, aiming to throw three innings or 45 pitches.

How Did Tyler Glasnow Perform Before His Injury?
Glasnow initially went down with low back spasms at the beginning of May, shortly after recording his 1,000th strikeout against the Houston Astros. On the year, Glasnow has a 2.72 ERA through seven starts, striking out 49 batters through 39.2 innings pitched.
At the time of his injury, Glasnow’s ERA ranked third on the team among starters behind Shohei Ohtani and Justin Wrobleski—both of whom got off to electric starts to the season. His 33.1% strikeout rate was the highest on the team up to that point as well.
The Dodgers’ rotation currently consists of five players following Shohei Ohtani’s knee injury and Emmet Sheehan’s demotion to Triple-A, though Blake Snell will fill the last spot—meaning Glansow will displace one of the members of the current rotation upon his return.
