The Health and Human Services Secretary and Kid Rock's favorite spotter is now a (free-streaming) TV presenter. Kennedy Jr. is host of The Real Food Show , which launched on YouTube on Thursday. The series sees John F. Kennedy's nephew travel the country to answer the question of not what it can do for him, but what he can do for it.
The goal is to "Make America Healthy Again," according to the HHS website. RFK Jr . and a rotating panel of celebrity chefs will whip up inexpensive and nutritious meals that are said to be "inspired" by President Trump 's health agenda, it says. The POTUS is something of a do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do kind of guy. "Secretary Kennedy is bringing the Dietary Guidelines for Americans to life and showing that cooking with real food can be practical, approachable and affordable for every family," the show's synopsis reads. "Every episode is packed with affordable, budget-friendly recipes and easy cooking techniques designed to save you time and money. Plus, you'll get practical nutrition advice to help fuel your family, all while watching incredible special guests whip up their favorite healthy signature dishes right alongside Secretary Kennedy."
I wouldn't say Secretary Kennedy has a natural screen presence, and his raspy voice due to spasmodic dysphonia (a rare neurological disorder) can be a bit distracting, but the upbeat trailer shows he probably learned a few tricks from wife Cheryl Hines ( Curb Your Enthusiasm ). Considering RFK Jr.'s close ties to Trump, this might be the last TV show he or his wife have.
Jokes aside, the mission here is solid, noble and needed. America has an obesity epidemic, and processed food is the guilty party. (And actually, it messes up way more than your waistline.)
In episode one, Kennedy Jr., his upside-down food pyramid and chef Andrew Gruel prepare crispy salmon cakes with apple, and a white bean and greens salad — all at a cost of less than $5 per serving. Now do gas prices.
