See the full story · 2 sourcesAccording to Joe Person of The Athletic , Carolina Panthers wide receiver Chris Brazzell II has been diagnosed with a "moderate" LCL tear in his left knee after going down at Wednesday's practice. Per Person, the rookie is expected to be out for up to at least eight weeks.
Brazzell missed the prior few sessions due to a knee issue. He returned this morning, only to be carted away during seven-on-seven drills.
Head coach Dave Canales was asked for some context behind the pre-existing discomfort.
"It was just something that kinda started to get sore after the first couple days," Canales told reporters . "And he mentioned it to us, we started to look at it and we put him through some good recovery stuff and de-loaded him for a couple days. Got him back out there and he couldn't finish the day."
Person also notes that Brazzell's tear is unrelated to the earlier injury.
This development may be somewhat of a sigh of relief considering how much worse the setback could have been—as the Panthers just saw starting outside linebacker Nic Scouton tear his ACL on the opening day of training camp last week.
