As the Washington Huskies comb through the nation for a quarterback recruit in the 2028 class, Jedd Fisch's coaching staff has established itself as a contender for one of the nation's top prospects: five-star Christopher Vargas.
According to multiple reports, the Huskies have emerged alongside Ohio State, UCLA, and USC as some of the top suitors for the 6-foot-4, 175-pound product of St. John's Preparatory in Danvers, Massachusetts, who is ranked as the nation's No. 5 overall prospect and No. 2 quarterback in the 2028 class by the 247Sports Composite.
While the Buckeyes are viewed as the heavy favorites to land his services, with a pair of predictions to choose coach Ryan Day's program from Rivals' Chad Simmons and Brandon Huffman, Fisch has a strong track record with developing quarterbacks between his time in college and the NFL, and Vargas' arm talent and athleticism are a good fit for Washington's offense.

"Measured in at around 6-foot-4, 175 pounds with 9.5-inch hands prior to his sophomore season. Has a loose, live arm. Able to generate easy velocity while locating his passes into small windows with accuracy and touch."

Helped his team to a state title appearance as a sophomore, completing 138 of 207 passes (66.7 percent) for 2,038 yards and 24 touchdowns against 3 interceptions. A bit older for the cycle, and will turn 18 in April before his senior season."
While landing Vargas does appear to be a long shot, Fisch's coaching staff has proven to be relentless on the recruiting trail and will likely continue to push for his pledge.
