To say the Cleveland Browns’ quarterback situation has been volatile in recent years would be a major understatement. Nine different players have lined up under center for the franchise over the past three seasons. This offseason, it appears there’s a battle developing between Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson for the No. 1 spot.
Sanders, himself a go-to topic for sports media, showed strong promise during his audition last year and Watson is looking to prove that he can perform at the level he displayed when fully healthy.
There will be surely be many twists and turns in this competition before meaningful football is played, but some drama flared up over the weekend on the back of a TikTok Live from wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.

The video purportedly showed Jeudy providing an answer to a viewer’s question about who he would like to see as Cleveland’s starter by flashing the number 4 (the jersey Watson wears) with his hands.
Jeudy responded to shoot down this idea.
“I don’t speak on decisions that aren’t mine to make,” he wrote. “I support my teammates/brothers, I do my job, and control what I can control. Let’s stop creating [narratives] that aren’t there for likes and clicks. I bet this won’t go viral because it’s too positive/real for y’all.”
The clip in question does seem to have a strange skip in it. Then there’s also the idea that Jeudy would probably have at least a little pause in going out and announcing his preference at quarterback because such a thing would create all types of waves.
Every day there’s a reminder of how strange things in this new world of unlimited content and increasing difficulty understanding what’s real and what’s fake. It has to be immensely frustrating to have things that you didn’t even do go viral.
So while the Browns quarterback plan may remain a bit of a roller coaster, at least in this instance it appears there was much hullabaloo about nothing.
