See the full story · 1 sourcesSTOYSTOWN — Eleven new members were inducted into the Somerset County Baseball Old-Timers Hall of Fame , Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Stoystown American Legion Post 257.
The 2026 class included Andrew Shima Jr., Barry Thomas, Casey Stanton, Clarence Stevanus Jr., Clifford Derencin, Cory Miller, Greg Custer, Dave Tataliba, John Keller, Tom Bush, and Frankie Ryan.
It was the 29th annual hall-of-fame induction ceremony, bringing together, old-timers, fans, supporters of the game, as well as current and former players and coaches from across Somerset County and beyond.

Thomas has been a staple as a coach in various roles throughout his career. His coaching career was memorable, alongside some greats.
"This is special for a lot of reasons, especially because the legacy of the guys I coached with," said Thomas. "It started with my dad and my little brother. At best, I'm the third best coach in the family. It is a pretty good legacy there. Coaching with Sam (Zambanini) at Conemaugh Township and the history of the program is special. This group of guys and what they do in the community is fantastic."
Ryan played at Meyersdale and has been a coach at nearly every level. He is also an umpire as well. The hall of fame induction is just the cherry on top for a guy who truly loves the game of baseball.
"I really appreciate this and everything the old-timers do for the game of baseball," Ryan said. "It is so nice to see people, tell stories and reflect on what we've done our whole lives."
Awards were also presented to high school baseball players for their standout seasons. The Nathan J. Codispoti (MVP) Award went to Conemaugh Township Colin Dinyar, who will continue his baseball career at Pitt-Johnstown. Dinyar was absent, preparing to play in the AAABA Tournament championship game against New Orleans. The William "Bill" Love (Spirit of the Game) Award recipient was Shanksville-Stonycreek's Grant Boozer, who will play at Mount Aloysius College. The Walter "Gutch" Bodziak (Heart of the Game) Award went to North Star sophomore Wyatt Mosgrave, and the Stanley “Chief” Thomas (Coach of the Year) Award recipient was Conemaugh Township's Tim Doyle.
