Josh Allen has a message for Bills Mafia — and other fans who are not fond of Buffalo’s new alternate team uniforms.
“Stop hating on the jerseys, guys,” Allen, 30, told reporters after the Bills’ first practice of training camp on Wednesday, July 29.
He added, “I enjoy them. I think it’s very symbolic of what we want to do and what we want to be. I understand people want the old jerseys and the old helmets and all that.”
The new “Nickel City” uniforms — which feature an all-gray jersey-pants combo with blue accents — had social media users heading to the comments and reaching for the popcorn.
“These are the uniforms from a Hallmark romcom about a down on his luck football player who moves back to his hometown and discovers the real championship was Christmas all along,” wrote one X user.

Complaints from others followed.
“Why can’t we have nice things?” one wrote, while another joked about the color palette: “Looks like the Texas Rangers helped design them.”
The team calls the new design a “tribute to the strength, grit and authenticity of Western New York’s hard-working people throughout history.”
For the Bills, the uniform is only one piece of a new chapter set to debut this season.
A new, $2.2 billion Highmark Stadium will replace the old venue that opened in 1973 . The 61,108-seat stadium will have the ability for additional standing-room only tickets. Other new additions include a natural grass field with an under-field heating system, which will help with snow management and field conditions.
Off the field, infrared heaters are mounted to the underside of the seating decks and will push heat down to warm fans at every level.
For Allen — who underwent his own transition to fatherhood this offseason with the birth of daughter Harper Haize with wife Hailee Steinfeld — change is good thing.
“At some point, too, we are moving forward,” he said. “We have to move forward and do something new — and that’s what we’re doing.”
