Day 4 of Cleveland Browns training camp took place on Saturday, August 1. Both quarterbacks competing to start spoke to the media before practice.

During Sanders’ interview, he talked about some of the differences he sees in himself in year two, as well as the comfort level he has with Todd Monken’s offense.

2. Injuries Can Shift Momentum: For the second straight day, OG Teven Jenkins missed practice, allowing KT Leveston to work with the starters. Granted, the coaching staff isn’t going to make a decision solely based on training camp injuries, but it can make players fall out of favor in a competition. If you recall, QB Kenny Pickett missed much of camp last year, essentially eliminating him from the Browns’ quarterback competition.
3. A Bit to Unpack Here: Yesterday, I put in a little note about TE Jack Stoll making some catches when it’s not what he’s known for. Well, this might be an example why. Early in practice, QB Deshaun Watson threw a short pass to Stoll that he should have caught. Instead, S Emmanuel McNeil-Warren helped knock it away, tip it in the air, and then S Christopher Edmonds came up with the pick six. Edmonds had two interceptions on the day.

4. Red Zone Drills: Much of practice involved the first installation of red zone drills, which meant a lot of touchdown opportunities. Unfortunately for the quarterbacks, it also led to quite a few interceptions, which the defense loved. Because they are just 7-on-7 drills, though, some of the touchdowns are pretty rudimentary, like this connection between QB Shedeur Sanders and WR Jerry Jeudy :

What you don’t like seeing is how bad an interception can be in drills, like when QB Deshaun Watson threw it right to S Donovan McMillan after he was pretty much just standing there the whole time:

I was said that Watson had a few designed rollout touchdowns in red zone drlls.
5. Graham Continues Strong Start: I always say that it’s tough to evaluate offensive and defensive lines in camp, especially if pads aren’t on. Nonetheless, the defensive line has been bringing the heat, with DT Mason Graham consistently getting into the backfield.

6. Star of Camp: Through four practices, WR Denzel Boston has been the star of camp, looking like a home run pick for early in the second round and possibly the team’s No. 1 receiver. Here he is hauling in a contested catch on a long pass from QB Shedeur Sanders :

7. First Fight of Training Camp: What started off as some post-snap jostling between C Elgton Jenkins and DE Sam Kamara turned into a fight between DE Alex Wright and RG KT Leveston . As is often the case in camp, the rest of the players were able to diffuse the situation.

8. Just Missed: The Browns threw five interceptions on the day. It should have been six, but in one of the last red zone drills, QB Shedeur Sanders ’ pass for WR Jerry Jeudy was dropped by S Grant Delpit .

8. Deep Interceptions: To end practice, the quarterbacks were throwing downfield passes to the right side, but both Watson and Sanders were victims of interceptions. Here is Sanders getting picked off by CB D’Angelo Ross when trying to get the ball to WR Jerry Jeudy . Some people noted that they feel if this was WR Denzel Boston as the target, that he would’ve come down with the ball.

And then, QB Deshaun Watson tried getting the ball to WR Tylan Wallace , but it over overthrown and intercepted by S Christopher Edmonds .
