According to a report from Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk (as captured by @iMiaSanMia ), Bayern Munich could seek to add a striker in 2027 even if it inks Harry Kane to a new contract in the coming weeks or months. In addition, head coach Vincent Kompany once liked the possibility of playing Kane and then-RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško together, before the latter transferred to Manchester United:
Extending Harry Kane’s contract would not necessarily rule out Bayern signing another top striker in summer 2027. The club had already explored the possibility of signing Benjamin Šeško before the latter’s move to Manchester United. Vincent Kompany’s vision even then was to establish a flexible, attacking system that allows him to sometimes play with two strikers. Šeško was viewed as the ideal solution for that role back then
Kane, meanwhile, is said to be fully aware that he could gradually switch into a deeper role at Bayern in the future. With his passing range and playmaking ability, he can continue to showcase more of his strengths there.
BFW Analysis
Well, well, well — Kompany has a mad scientist mode and it is very interesting. While future planning at the striker position makes sense, it is fascinating to learn that Kompany has some innovative ideas about how to use his attackers.
Obviously, Šeško made the move to Manchester United instead of Bayern Munich, but — maybe — this could open the door to something similar next summer. Wouldn’t that be intriguing?
