Texans Dealt Blow as EDGE Tears Achilles, Out for Season: Report

The Houston Texans feared that edge rusher Dylan Horton suffered a serious injury during practice on Monday, according to Aaron Wilson.
"Texans veteran defensive end Dylan Horton is feared to have suffered a torn Achilles today at practice after being helped off the field, per league sources. Tough blow for former Ed Block Courage award winner, lymphoma survivor." Wilson wrote on X.
"Domonique Robinson (calf) and Jadeveon Clowney (lower leg) currently sidelined with short-term injuries. Horton, a former fourth-round pick from TCU, has played in 39 career games with 55 tackles, a half sack, forced fumble and one fumble recovery".
And a little under two hours later it was confirmed by Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle that, per his sources, Horton would miss the season with a confirmed torn Achilles.
"Tests confirmed today that #Texans DE Dylan Horton has a torn Achilles, according to two sources." Alexander reported , before adding, "He will miss the 2026 season."
Although this injury is devastating in its own right, Horton's torn Achilles is just the latest blow to an edge rushing corps whose depth is slowly being eroded by the hour.
Earlier in the day it was reported that Jadeveon Clowney had a lower leg injury , although head coach DeMeco Ryans clarified that he would be back "soon". And as Wilson shared in his first post, the team's third rotational rusher, Dominique Robinson, is also currently sidelined with a calf injury.
In the meantime, the Texans will have to rely on the trio of 2024 seventh round pick Solomon Byrd, former-Titan Ali Gaye and undrafted rookie free agent Sebastian Harsh – all of whom at this rate have a very real route to making the final roster behind All-Pro starters Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter.
