Anthony Richardson got the start at quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts in the preseason finale. He would play the first quarter before Riley Leonard took over.
Let's take a closer look at Richardson's performance.
After a bumpy showing last week, Richardson had a much better outing this time around. In part, that was due to the offensive line play improving. While Richardson was sacked once, he did often have time in the pocket, which he was able to take advantage of.
Richardson finished the game completing 7-of-10 passes for 80 yards. This included connecting with Keenan Allen on a crossing route that required a tight-window throw, and Richardson also layered a sideline pass to Nick Westbrook-Ikhine.
He did, however, miss an open Deion Burks over the middle.

Richardson has now finished the preseason completing 21-of-33 passes for 250 yards with an interception. He's rushed for 69 yards as well, and that ability to extend plays has been a differentiator for him.
Richardson has flashed this summer, but he's had his ups and downs as well. We will see how Leonard responds, but Richardson's preseason performance has largely been encouraging.
