Babar Azam's batting record for Pakistan against England in Tests, ODIs and T20Is listed
England has become one of the defining opponents of Babar Azam's international career, and rarely for the wrong reasons. Across a decade of meetings, he has assembled 2,185 runs against them, a haul underpinned by an unusual consistency from format to format.
That record has been thrown into sharp relief by his absence at Headingley, where Pakistan collapsed for 171 and 135 in a defeat by an innings and 103 runs. Struck on the hand by Hampshire quick Manny Lumsden during a warm-up fixture, Babar was withdrawn as a precaution and watched the series opener from the sidelines.
Nasser Hussain had suggested before the series that Pakistan would improve considerably once their premier batter returned, an assessment the numbers below largely support. Babar is expected to be available for the second Test at Lord's, beginning Thursday.

Babar Azam's Test record against England
The longest format has produced Babar's finest returns against England, with an average approaching 54 across eight matches. His highest score of 136 came alongside six half-centuries, giving him a conversion pattern that reflects a batter who consistently gets in without always going on.

Babar Azam's ODI record against England
One-day cricket has brought the most frequent meetings, with 20 matches producing 854 runs. His unbeaten highest score of 158 remains among the biggest individual efforts by a Pakistani against England in the format, and he struck at almost a run a ball throughout.

Babar Azam's T20I record against England
The shortest format is where Babar has combined volume with tempo, striking at 139.22 while still averaging above 45. His unbeaten 110 is one of only a handful of T20I hundreds scored against England, and he has cleared the ropes 15 times in these fixtures.

Averaging above 45 against the same opposition in all three formats is a distinction few contemporary batters can claim.
With two Tests still to play at Lord's and Edgbaston, Babar has the opportunity to add substantially to a record that already reads as the strongest on the Pakistan side. Whether that proves enough to salvage a series they trail 1-0 is another question entirely.
