See the full story · 1 sourcesThe Washington Commanders are going through a transition. The team is coming off a bad year, and there are several new contributors on both sides of the ball.
However, two players stand above the rest who have both been steady during this period: Jayden Daniels and Terry McLaurin. Daniels has looked like one of the best quarterbacks in the league when healthy, while McLaurin is one of the trusted veterans who's still a reliable WR1.
Fellow wide receiver Luke McCaffrey recently appeared on 106.7 The Fan and spoke about the two vterans how they lead. McCaffrey is trying to cement his place on the team, and having guys like Daniels and McLaurin around helps the vibes of the entire roster.
"Terry is such a great leader, and beyond that, he's such a great leader by example," McCaffrey said. "It's a lot of fun to just be in that room and feed off of that energy."

— 106.7 The Fan (@1067theFan) July 30, 2026 McLaurin will definitely need McCaffrey's help in 2026. While the veteran is firmly atop the depth chart, there aren't many solid options behind him. McCaffrey, alongside rookie Antonio Williams and old friend Dyami Brown, will be competing for more targets.
McCaffrey also praised Daniels' leadership style as he prepares for his third season.
"From Day One, Jayden has been a leader on this team," McCaffrey said. "Just being around him has helped me grow in appreciation for the mindset, the poise, and the focus that he has."
It's good to hear that Daniels' mentality hasn't changed despite enduring a down season. Infectious personalities like those of McLaurin and Daniels can make a major difference in how a team performs on the field.
It's also worth noting that veteran leaders like Von Miller and Bobby Wagner are no longer around. This means McLaurin and Daniels will be relied upon even more than usual, but it's clear that both men are up to the task.
