Cincinnati — Detroit Lions cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr. was taken to the locker room after leaving the game following a second-quarter tackle on Cincinnati Bengals running back Tahj Brooks on Thursday night.
Rakestraw, who appeared to be favoring his left arm earlier in the drive after taking some friendly fire from linebacker Devin White, upended Brooks with 12:03 to go in the second quarter and remained on the turf. Defensive lineman Levi Onwuzurike waved the training staff over and immediately took a knee as Rakestraw was being examined.
Rakestraw eventually jogged off under his own power but was not moving his left arm or shoulder. He was briefly examined in the blue medical tent before being taken back to the locker room.
The development is undoubtedly frustrating for the third-year cornerback, who's had the start of his NFL career derailed by injuries. He was limited to eight games in his 2024 rookie season because of a hamstring issue, and missed the entirety of the 2025 season with a shoulder injury that he suffered early in training camp.
