The Los Angeles Chargers seem to be getting hit with some unlucky injuries along their offensive line for a second straight year.
According to Kris Rhim of ESPN , Chargers starting center Tyler Biadasz was carted off the field during the team's latest joint practice after San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Sebastian Valdez fell on his left knee during the 11v11 period.
It's certainly not the news Chargers fans were hoping to hear, especially after watching the team without both of its starting offensive tackles, Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt, a year ago.
Biadasz, 28, just signed a three-year, $30 million contract with the Chargers this offseason with the hopes he could help bolster their offensive line, but that now seems to be in jeopardy.
It remains unclear what the severity of the injury is, but anytime a cart is needed to transport a player, it doesn't typically trend in the good news direction.
Biadasz began his professional career as a fourth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He spent the first four years of his career in Dallas, but he was not re-signed after the 2023 season.
So, Biadasz joined the Cowboys NFC East rival, the Washington Commanders, on a three-year, $30 million contract in 2024. He played quite well, too, earning a 70.8 overall PFF grade in the 2025 season, which was 10th among 40 qualified centers, after allowing 21 total pressures in pass protection, including three sacks and zero hits allowed to opposing pass rushers.
However, after suffering knee and ankle injuries that landed him on injured reserve in 2025, he was released by the Commanders with one year remaining on his contract.
A native of Amherst, Wisconsin, Biadasz played college football at Wisconsin, where he became the first Rimington Trophy winner in school history as the nation's top center and was named a unanimous All-American.
